WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) -- Netflix has announced that the final season of "House of Cards" will resume production in early 2018. It will not include Spacey at all.
Robin Wright is expected to take on the lead role on the series.
Ted Sarandos, chief content officer for Netflix, confirmed the announcement at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference.
"We were really excited we could get an agreement," Sarandos said. "We're really excited about bringing some closure to the show for fans."
The new season is expected to last eight episodes. Currently on the series, Wright plays the President of the United States after Spacey's character is forced to resign at the end of season five.
In October, Netflix suspended production of the show as revelations about Spacey were revealed dating back to the 1980s.
Actor Anthony Amey accused Spacey of making sexual advances towards him when Amey was 14 years old.
