Scary moments for a 7-year-old on Dauphin Island after he got stuck in a drainage pipe.

It happened Wednesday near Iberville and Inez. It took crews about 45 minutes to rescue him.

The accident was not weather related. The little boy says a game of fetch with a neighbor’s dog landed him in something he couldn’t get out of.

“They got this knee out and this one got stuck,” Mason said.

7-year-old Mason got stuck in a drainage pipe.

“I guess he decided to look in the pipe and the next thing I know the neighbors child was coming to tell me that mason was stuck in a drain,” his dad said.

His dad says when he walked out he didn’t know what to expect.

“I thought it was just a regular covert over the road I didn’t realize it was actually a storm drain,” he said.

Emergency responders from Dauphin Island and Mobile came to the scene and had to cut open parts of the pipe to get him out.

“The paramedics and the fire department and some of the locals they all kind of jumped in and did it really quick,” he said. “They did a wonderful job.”

Aside from a few scratches on his arm and leg Mason is okay.

His dad said he wasn’t too worried because he could see Mason the whole time and he was able to communicate with him.
