WASHINGTON (SBG) - Texas Democrat and US presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke said he put to bed a week-long mystery on May 3 after his family’s pet turtle, who O’Rourke believed was eaten by the family dog, was discovered in a closet of the O’Rourkes’ El Paso home.

At an event in San Diego on April 30, Beto announced he would head home to address a family crisis, the disappearance of Gus the turtle. According to MSNBC’s Garrett Haake, Artemis, a black dog belonging to the O’Rourkes, was fingered in the disappearance.

On Friday, Beto and his wife Amy posted video to Instagram showing Gus after he was found in a closet. The small turtle was reintroduced to Artemis, who was absolved of any guilt in the matter.
